Club History
MCARC Founded
A group of dedicated amateur radio operators in the Castroville, Texas area came together to form the Medina County Amateur Radio Corporation. What began as informal gatherings of local hams became a formally organized club.
Club Callsign KD5DX Issued
The FCC issued callsign KD5DX to the Medina County Amateur Radio Corporation, giving the club its official identity on the airwaves.
Repeater Network Established
MCARC built out its repeater infrastructure with machines on 147.200 MHz, 145.290 MHz, and 443.350 MHz, providing wide coverage throughout Medina County and the surrounding Texas Hill Country.
VE Testing & Community Outreach
The club grew its Volunteer Examiner program, offering regular license testing sessions after monthly meetings. MCARC became a recognized resource for emergency communications training and public service events.
Digital Expansion
MCARC launched its Discord community server, connecting members online between meetings. The club continued to grow with new members and modernized its web presence to better serve the amateur radio community.
Our Mission
MCARC exists to advance amateur radio in Medina County and the surrounding Texas Hill Country through education, public service, and the fellowship of amateur radio operators of all skill levels.
ARRL Affiliated Club
As an ARRL-affiliated club, MCARC participates in national events including Field Day, Sweepstakes, and the National Traffic System. Our members benefit from the resources and support of the national amateur radio community.
