Field Day

Field Day is amateur radio's biggest annual operating event — and MCARC makes it a celebration. Every June, we set up portable stations and make as many contacts as possible in 24 hours. It's part contest, part emergency preparedness exercise, and part outdoor party.

What is Field Day?

ARRL Field Day is held on the fourth full weekend of June each year. Thousands of clubs and operators across North America set up temporary stations in parks, fields, and emergency operations centers to practice deploying communications under simulated emergency conditions.

For MCARC, it's one of the highlights of the year. We set up multiple stations running on different bands and modes, fire up generators, put up antennas, and operate for 24 hours straight. Everyone participates — from newly licensed Technicians to seasoned Extra-class operators.
